CityZen

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-07-15

TL;DR. CityZen collects no personal data. There's no account, you don't provide anything. Your preferences (language, audio speed) are stored locally on your device and deleted when you uninstall the app.

What CityZen does

CityZen is a mobile app that shows essential polite phrases in several languages, with phonetic spelling and audio pronunciation. No account, no ads, no subscription.

What we collect

Nothing. No personal information ever leaves your device or reaches us.

Specifically:

What is stored on your device

The app uses your system's standard preferences storage to remember:

These values are stored only on your device and automatically deleted when you uninstall the app. We never see them.

Speech synthesis (audio)

When you tap the “Listen” button or a play icon next to a phrase, CityZen uses the text-to-speech engine built into your device:

The text to be spoken is passed to this native engine. Depending on your OS settings, the engine may run fully offline or call remote servers — this behavior is controlled by your operating system, not by CityZen. For details, please refer to your OS vendor's privacy policy (Google, Apple) or your browser's.

Typefaces

On first launch, the app downloads the Fraunces, Plus Jakarta Sans, and JetBrains Mono fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com). During this download, Google sees your IP address and a generic browser/OS identifier. No app data is transmitted. The fonts are then cached locally and the app works offline afterwards.

Third parties

No data is shared with third parties, except for the initial font download mentioned above.

Your rights (GDPR)

Since we don't collect any personal data, there is nothing to consult, modify, or delete on our side. To wipe your local preferences, simply uninstall the app or clear CityZen's data from your device settings.

Children

CityZen is suitable for all ages. Because we collect no data, children's privacy is protected by design.

Changes to this policy

Any change will be published on this page with a new “last updated” date. For significant changes, a notice will also be shown inside the app.
